Episode 11 ~ Ode to Kristin

Hi, Knitters,
The podcast and all of my other videos are available for viewing and subscription on my YouTube Channel (click here!) and on iTunes (click here!).

Today on Episode 11 I chat about all kinds of things knitting-related and beyond. I especially focus on my friend, the multi-talented Kristin Nicholas, and all of the wonderful new ventures she has going on. I am giving away some of her beautiful Regia Colorations jacquard sock yarn and her re-released book, Colorful Stitchery.

If you can't see the videos through the email for subscribers, please hop over to my blog to view. Click here! The video below was filmed at Kristin's farm for Creativebug.com where she has several classes. It is a very well-done video and it is fun to get a visual of Kristin and her home and farm. Kristin lives on her farm with her husband, who she affectionately calls The Farmer, and her teenage daughter, Julia.

More of Kristin's links:

Buy Kristin's books directly from her website! You can purchase all of the books I show in the podcast on her website. Kristin signs them, too, upon request which is an added bonus for purchasing directly from the author.

Kristin's sock yarns are available at a variety of yarn shops locally and online. Here are a couple online options: Websters, and Webs. It comes in 50 and 100 gram balls so don't forget to check when ordering.

Giveaway Information:
Please leave one comment on the blog post that includes your Ravelry username/id or your email address so I can get in touch if you win. Please be patient for your comment to appear, there is a delay. One randomly selected winner will receive a copy of Colorful Stitchery from the publisher and the Regia Colorations sock yarn, enough to knit a pair of socks (colorway to be determined) from Kristin. I'll be back in a few days to randomly select and announce the winner.

Good luck and let the comments begin!

I think that's it! Enjoy!

Hei!(the Norwegian way). We're having an exceptionally warm weather here, but grey and wet. I am warming my soul with Kristin's navajo-inspired afghan. I am calling her Helga(Norwegian for weekend) since I get to work on her on the weekends. Kristin got me knitting! I was roaming in Amazon books(as in let see what do they have for Christmas). Never knit before and a kind of grey and brown clad girl. I was hooked! Oh wow and how on earth did I miss that kind of thing... That was two years ago, I have re-bought her books(color by Kristin and Kristin knits) as they got dog-eared and shattered by use). I highly recommended them to my now new circle of knitting friends, but never let them borrow my books(even the used ones!) They are mine and mine only. I would love to have a signed any thing by Kristin as she is my colour superhero. Thank you Susan for the chance to say a word about Kristin on another blog. Thank you beautiful Kristin

Hi Susan,

Love, Kristin's books. I have the two you mentioned in your podcast and find her ability to combine colors so inspirational. I have used the regia yarn in the past and would love to win more. It makes such interesting socks. Non-knitters think I do all that patterning!!
Susan, I thought of you while watching the Packers game on Sunday. They showed the fans sitting there in 4 degrees and they were happy (of course Packers fans have more to cheer about than Bills fans). They were all bundled up for the elements and it made me think of your socks. Then, you mentioned the Packers in your last post while showing us the socks you made for your son! Funny how I'm always thinking about knitting.

What a great episode this one was. went to visit our oldest daughter in DC this past weekend, she lives in Arlington. Well, she is always cold and i found fleeced lined tights at TJMaxx and i thought they might be right up her alley...she LOVES them. had to find a TJMaxx in the area and we bought a couple of more pairs. I have sent a pair to my other daughter who is in college in Ohio. I'm sure she will love them also.

I love the review you did on Kristin Nicolas book. She is right up there with Kaffe Fassett who uses such beautiful colors in both knitting and quilting. I will have to look for her books.

It was great watching your podcast as i sit here in western New York and watch the snow coming down. Thanks!

I have several of Kristen's books & they look just like yours, tons of notes all over them. I have been a fan of hers for years and really admire her color sense and creativity. I don't think there is anything she can't do.

Also, I like that she doesn't sugar coat the life of a farmer. She really tells it like it is!

Hi Susan,
First of all, what's not to love about a girl named Kristin who spells her name with two 'i's!! That is how my daughter's name is spelled and I love it!
OK, seriously, this was another great videocast and I'd love to win! Like you said, Kristin's sense of color is outstanding. I love the sock yarn. And she has so many great ideas!!! Yowza: I want to win!
