Merry, Merry!

Hi Knitters,
My husband has always laughed about an old family friend who would greet everyone during the holiday season with a chipper, "Merry, merry!" So in the spirit of the goofy family friend of yore, I am sharing a, "Merry, merry!" greeting with you today and for the weekend.

The socks above sort of sum up my Christmas knitting this year. I didn't quite make it. I have one of things that should have two. Some gifts have even less than that finished. I am happily giving up! Instead of finishing the knitted gifts I have made great progress on my next upcoming book manuscript and that is a worthwhile compromise. I am so excited about this new book. It has come together like nothing I have done before. I simply love it. It won't be out for awhile yet but I will be sure to keep you posted.

Now that this book is coming to a close, I have future books in my head, on my needles and in my sketchbooks. I am having that sense of excitement you get when you start something fresh and new, kind of like when you cast on a new knitting project. It is the best.

There is so much potential on the horizon for the new year.... just look at all of that yarn-y fun just waiting to be had.

I hope your gift knitting has been more successful than mine this year!

Happy holidays from my house to your house. I am wishing you all a peaceful, warm, and family-filled holiday season.

Knitters, I hope to see you all back here next week. For now, I've got to get some pies in the oven.....

love, susie

Love your niche there in that last pic! What a calming and happy blue w/the white trip. Love the vintage/distressed bookcase of yarn and look at all those yummy books to browse through besides that awesome yarn.
LOVE the socks!
Glad you gave up. My motto this year is why stress myself out? I deserve to enjoy the holidays and the time my daughters have off.
Glad you're so happy w/the progression of your newest book in the works and that clever brain of yours is concocting up new ideas for more!

I'm just about in the same boat as you, where holiday knitting is concerned, lol. But I'm too stubborn to give up yet. Not till I'm too sleep-deprived and my hands are too cramped to do any more ;)

I think I would die and go to heaven if I got those candy corn colored socks! They are so cute! I have been the same way with my knitting this year. Hoping to get back into it in the new year. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself and them with us all year long!

Merry, merry to you and your family, too! I'm just finishing up gifts and cards tonight...not easy to do with the little pup on my lap. She looks at me with such sad eyes when I put her down, I'll have to wait until she goes to sleep to start on the wrapping!
Thanks for being you!

I actually finished nine pair of socks in two months and then stopped last week with only one done for my husband, but I wrapped it anyway! Then, I started on McHenry and finished him last night. I can hardly wait for my grandgirl, Delainy, to unwrap him today! Merry Christmas to you!

Merry, merry to you, Susan! So glad that I was able to take a class from you this year (and the craftsy class I need to start!) hoping I'm available for other local events you offer!
Happy non-white Holidays!

Merry Merry from Mary! I ended up staying up until 4am last night - with a headlamp on, in my bed, finishing the last project. I had to wear a hat today because I have a semi-permanent depression in my forehead from my late night lighting shenanigans. But everything got done and wrapped! Next year, maybe we all start earlier? But where is the fun in that!
Cheers!
Mary
