Who Wants to Knit a Giraffe?

Hi Knitters,
I've been wanting to do this forever and now that I am home for a good stretch, I am. I have enough brand new, untouched yarn sitting in my studio for someone to make another Giraffe from Itty-Bitty Toys. It's the same yarn I used to knit the original Giraffe. The Giraffe calls for two skeins of Cascade 220 Superwash in Daffodil. Got it. Plus you need one skein of Orange in the same. Check. It's all here and ready to go.

I have no plans to knit another Giraffe anytime soon so I want you to take it off my hands!
You all know the drill. Leave me a comment. Say hello or whatever you'd like (within reason, of course:). I will randomly select a winner in a day or two or a few days, I don't know exactly when. I'll see how it goes. Please leave some identifying something like your name, location, anything you feel comfortable with. Only enter once, please. After I select a winner I will post the winning comment. The winner will have a few days to send me their mailing address through my email (on the sidebar). If I don't hear anything I will pick a new winner at that time.
Have fun! Let's make this one fast and furious.

I may even play a little Secret Santa and sweeten the pot with some added prizes!!! You never know what you might get. I've got stuff, Knitters, good stuff. And I like to give it away.

fyi: One thing that won't be included in the surprise pot is a copy of Itty-Bitty Toys since I only have one copy in my possession at this point. I have given away every copy I had, which was maybe 15-20 copies, can't remember exactly. I need to get some more books for sure but right now I need to hang onto the only copy I have.

Okay, Knitters, go for it!
best, susie

I just today finished Grumpy Old Bear - my first knitted toy! He DOES indeed look grumpy, in an adorable sort of way. Having five grandbabies, I can always use more yarn for more knitted toys to give to little ones. I'm loving your first two books - would not part with them for the world, not only for the patterns but the instructions are my go-to over and over again.

I just had to say that it really made me laugh to see this post about knitting the giraffe!

Yesterday I was sitting with my very tired 2 year old daughter. She had missed her nap, and I was trying to keep her happy and awake for supper. So we sat down to look at my new Itty-Bitty Toys book. (I still haven't knit from it yet!) We were talking about all the toys~ which one was her favorite and which one she wanted me to knit first. The giraffe was the winner. She just kept giggling about his little pom poms, especially the one on his tail.

She went off to play, and I sat down at the computer and saw this post! It really made me laugh!

Of course, I couldn't get back to the computer for long enough to leave a comment until today. Life with lots of little ones... :o)

It would be such fun to win yarn, your yarn, to knit the giraffe. How cool is that! With 4 grandchildren 4 years and under I know I will be knitting lots of toys... and it would be so special for the first to be of yarn from your stash!

I wish you and yours many blessings. You are a delightful and talented woman. I enjoy receiving you posts so very much.

Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family,

I would love to receive this as a 'bonus' Christmas present. I have Itty Bitty Toys out of the library and I LOVE everything in it so have requested my own copy for Christmas. Having the exact right yarn to make one of the toys would be such a treat as here in New Zealand we usually have to substitute for brands we can source locally.
I love the blankets from the wrap-me-up puppies - so special with the fabric lining and the cute bobble button easy for little fingers. I made two blankets (12 inches square) so my daughters can wrap up their dolls - hours of fun!! Sorry to go on but I know you enjoy any and all feedback.

The sisters are fantastic and truly delightful to be around. Well this is my first comment but I wanted to tell you that you are my inspiration to start knitting! My first project ever was your spring chick hat for my little girl. I was expecting my first boy in March and I made him the nursery sweater. He wore it home from the hospital--I will have to send a photo when I figure out how. Oh man, I think it took me my entire pregnancy since it was only the 2nd thing I had EVER knit (and of course I found the corrections online after I had tried over and over to get it right, thinking I just wasn't understanding!) Anyway, I know have all of your books and every night I look at them and dream of what I will make someday. With 2 kids under 2 I am somehow not finding a lot of spare time :) Sorry so long, but I really want to thank you for turning me into a knitter!! You are a creative genius.

A few years ago, I bought a season ticket for me and my two kids to a zoo nearby. That first year, they had a baby giraffe born in December, and they called her Ruby, as she was born in the year of their 40th anniversary. She had to be handreared as she was mum's first baby and apparently they often reject their first baby. Another year on, and another baby giraffe turned up, Josie. Both doing well. Imagine our surprise a few months ago when we visited and spotted baby giraffe number three, only a few days old! She's called Honey. The zoo is not very big but good fun, but the giraffes are definitely our favourite animals which we always make a point of going to see. It'd be great to actually knit a giraffe, I'm sure my kids would love it. She might even get to come to the zoo with us one day.

My daughter is having her first baby in February (she is 36 years old) and I bought Itty Bitty Hats and started to send her a new hat every two weeks. She then sent me Itty Bitty Nursery (I think this was a hint!) and I started to make fun things from there...I just finished making the elephant pacifier clip and I'm working on the textured blanket. I was so excited to buy Itty Bitty Toys at my favorite yarn store, Jessica Knits, in Scottsdale. I just finished the small bear with the sock yarn and I've made many squishie balls (these will be under the Christmas tree!). My daughter wants the sex of the baby to be a surprise. I thought that was going to make it difficult for me in knitting, but with your patterns and yarn suggestions, it has been no big deal to know if my new grandchild will be a boy or girl! My next project has to be the giraffe...I can already see it sitting in the nursery, waiting for my new granchild to be born! Thanks you, Susan, for making my kniting so much fun!

This is so much fun! And so many participants allready!!! We are the happiest grandparents of a 3 mths old baby girl. I have knitted her almost all of the Itty Bitty hats and now I must start on the Itty Bitty toys. The girafe would be a wonderful start. I am known as WoolyKnitsNBits.

My first grandson was born 2 days ago and how I'd love to give him this little giraffe. I'm not an accomplished knitter but my daughter is, and she'd love to create this wonderful little critter for our baby Anthony!

How neat! I just purchased your book last week, and decided the giraffe would be my first project - to start after the holidays, and hopefully finish before my little girl is born a month later.

You are so kind to do so many give-aways! I see there are already over 530 posts but I wanted to say how much I am enjoying your Itty Bitty Toys book. It took me awhile to find a copy but I finally procured one of my very own :-) The giraffe is my favorite but my LYS doesn't have any of the daffodil yarn at this time. It won't delay me for long though...I can't wait to knit it up with whatever yarn I can find! Thanks for sharing your knitting life with us. It's always a delight to read your blog!

I would love to try too... I'm at work so in a hurry (can't think of a witty or amusing comment, sorry!) but had to bend the rules to come and comment to try to win this.

It's a good things so many of my friends are pregnant or have just had babes. I have 2 boys who would have that giraffe covered in dirt and truck tracks in an afternoon, but get my girl fix when I'm around my friends. I would love to share this sweet giraffe with one of the new-born sweet ones around me!
Great projects! MC

THe giraffe is adorable. I received a stuffed giraffe as my first gift when I was born and still have it. It would be so fun to add a knitted giraffe to the well-loved one that is now in my son's crib.

Plus, I used to live in Madison and practically lived at Stitcher's Crossing! :) Now I'm in the Ann Arbor area and getting to know the yarn stores here.

Have a wonderful holiday!

Love your book! I was just online today looking for some yarn to order to make this giraffe. Right now I am making the bunny, we call him Lumpy. I guess i'm not good at stuffing because he is a bit lumpy and thats how he got his name. I'm quickly becoming addicted to knitting stuffies and am planning on make the giraffe next!
