Have you ever?

Hi Knitters,
I ran across this youtube video of Stephanie Pearl-McPhee knitting and it is fascinating. One time a couple of years ago I was in Lexington for a book convention and Stephanie was there. My friend, Dianne, took all of the knitters out to lunch and I sat across the table from Stephanie and watched her knit over lunch. I had never seen anyone knit in this style and I was mesmerized. Take a look:

I thought you might enjoy watching her knit. I thought I was fast-ish but compared to her I knit in slow motion. I wish I could knit like this, I would get so much done.

Okay, a couple of other quick things for you here. I bought this beautiful pattern and I can't wait to knit this up. I want to support Kate Gilbert's exciting and innovative new online magazine and I plan on buying more patterns from here in the future. Check it out, this issue has some fun baby and toy projects to boot.

Every time I go to read Kristin's blog I feel like linking her newest post here. I know I bring her blog up a lot but it is worth repeating. She does all of this online work from a dial-up connection. That is dedication. If you don't read her blog yet, you should add it to your list. It is really good. Plain and simple. Here are a few gems as of late:
If you are interested in flowers, color, design, nature, New England, sheep farming, kittens, dogs, cooking, family life on a farm, patterns, books, crafts, recipes, funny stories, etc. visit this blog. Kristin is a treat. There, I said it again. (psssst, she is having a few big daily giveaways going on right now.)

That's all for this morning. I have lots of knitting to get done today plus it's really sunny and warm outside. I want to get out there and enjoy this weather before it is gone again.
best, susie
p.s. I am mailing out the Blue Sky yarn and my knit birdy today.

Happy St.Patrick's Day. Whoa that harlot is a knitting machine, she even "unknits" fast. I love that, while knitting that FAST story telling takes place, of her Nana and calling it Irish Cottage Knitting. "Getting Stitched on the Farm" was the first knitting blog I ever was exposed to - Kristin is amazing....then my second was your blog. As I have said before, you are both such sweet souls and great peeps, with such talent and inspiration to us all. Used the Shamrock "washcloth" as centerpiece for our table today...vase of daffodils as we had green bagels for breakfast! mmmm corned beef and cabbage is O'cookin.

That knitting video is so crazy I'm just going to have to try it now. Holy smokes.

Just found your blog via Kristin's, and I think we've bumped into each other on the Rav group "Kristin Knits!"

Susan - maybe you could post a video of your knitting technique? I am always so impressed with how quickly you turn our projects - I'd love to see you in action!

Oh my goodness, I have never seen anything like that. Thanks for sharing! I loved how she told the history behind that kind of knitting . . . very cool.

That video is hysterical, Its how my Memaire knit and how I was taught but NOT how I do it now.

And I adore Kristin. Her home and family and the woman herself are even more wonderful in person.

Wow...that is fast. I would love to see you knitting Susan. Also a tutorial on different ways to hold yarn would be so helpful. I sadly still "throw my yarn". Time to change that...Liz

I remember that lunch! I was in the presence of "Knitting Rock Stars"(and that includes you). When Stephanie is knitting like that, you can hardly hear what she is saying for looking at those flying needles!

Irish Cottage knitting is amazing and I want to learn it...any ideas on how to figure out how to hold the yarn in the right hand? All of her videos are so fast it's hard to see. Thanks for the inspiration...I want to speed up my knitting and avoid injuries :) Kim

Thanks for linking to my blog again Susan - you are too kind. Sounds like you are ripping along on the book - feels good to be almost over it, I bet. Love all the little projects you have been cooking up. So festive and in the holiday spirit. Is it warm there yet???? Today it is supposed to be 60!

Wow, she's fast! It took me a while even to figure out what she's doing; her hands are a blur! I wonder if that works with circulars? It looks like one straight is tucked under her right arm--I'd love to knit faster, but I can't give up the circulars!!

Enjoy your nice weather! :)

Oh my goodness. I don't know what to think of that style of knitting. It makes me anxious. Even though I throw I like my method because it relaxes me. That kind of stresses me out :)
