Hi Knitters,
Okay, I hope you don't mind sloppy seconds. The new winner of the Knitting Daily DVDs, as selected by the random number generator early this morning, is:

I have been wondering about that series. I just got a portable DVD player so it would be nice to watch it after the baby is asleep. You always have the best give aways!

Oiyi, yay! I am glad you came up as a winner. I will happily send your prize. You have to contact me by Thursday, Sept. 25th and give me your mailing address. My email is on the sidebar.  I am sorry to Mary for missing out but I have to follow through with the guidelines I set.

See those mangled looking apples above? The Collector brought those into the house the other day, not sure where they are from exactly. She is calling them Witch Apples. I love that. I am also not sure what we are supposed to be doing with them. Witch Apples...that's good.

That book is good, too, A Job for Wittilda. I love seasonal picture books, they really set the mood around the house. It's about a little witch trying to earn some extra cash to feed her cats so she tries out different occupations. Chaos ensues and it's very funny.
I just knitted up a Pear Apple Cozy for my daughter to bring to school each day. She loves an apple a day but not a Witch Apple:  ) What a great little cozy to throw in a backpack every day, so much better than using a baggie. I think I've made about a dozen pear apple cozies so far. They are a great gift.  Don't forget the cozy is a perfect yarn cake holder, too.

Our neighbor was over playing and drew those beautiful butterflies in our community sketch book. Excellent.
Do any of you have this toy set? It's a good one and I recommend it highly. Plus it's on sale on that link. I wish I had gotten it on sale but we've had it for quite awhile now.
It has magnets so the scoops stick to the scooper and cone. You can stack 3 scoops pretty easily. This is a clever, clever set. Grandmas everywhere need this one. I want to make a knitted version.

Along those lines, look at this one. I looove that pattern and I have to make a few of those at some point. Good work, Marcie.

Okay, off to work I go. Knit, knit, knit, stuff, stuff, stuff, sew, sew, sew.....sigh.
best, susie

I love the ice cream set by Melissa&Doug! I must get one for my 2 year-old son who, everyday, asks for an "eye-keem cone"!
I've made the scoops pattern as well, and put a rattle inside for a baby to jingle, and I love your applepear cozy pattern, I've made that as well!
Love your blog, I check in everyday!!

Do you have any cows that live near you? Man! They would LOVE those apples! My dad, who lives in RI, allows a farmer to house his small herd on a piece of property he owns. Every day (and I DO mean every day), my dad goes to visit "his grandchildren," the three calves that are part of the herd. When the season allows, he brings a big bucket of apples just like yours and, when he shakes that bucket, you should see those cows run! What a sight it is! They come right up to him, pushing and shoving, and he feeds them all. I've been lucky enough to join him when I'm visiting and it is sooooooooo cool to feel the whiskery lips of the cows graze your hand. So soft! Anyhow, that's all I have to say about that! Have fun!

Susan, that is an awesome toy site. I've been browsing through it off and on all day. Tons of stuff my girls and their cousins would love!! (Including the ice cream set, of course.) Thank you!

What a fun post! Witch Apples! I LOVE it. Her teacher must just have so much fun with her creativity. I know I would.

I don't have that book yet but I'm going to get it. Hilarious!! In Buehner's illustrations he likes to hide things. Maybe it says what to look for on the inside. Thanks for the suggestion.
I'm going to make your pearapple cozy instead of the apple cozy I just blogged about. More user friendly :)
And thanks for the link to Marcie's scoops. What a cute name. Yes, you need to knit one!

Hi Susan - I love your blogs and the links you include (I ordered the Pom Pom tree the other day) but when I follow your links to ravelry, it takes me only to the home page and not to the patterns you are referring to. I wonder is it me or is everyone else finding the same thing too? I look forward to "hearing" from you every few days.

Hey Allison,
I just clicked on my ravelry link and it went straight to the scooped pattern not the home page. It appears to be working.

Are you a member? Are you signed in? You have to be signed in for the link to work.

I haven't heard this from others but keep me posted.

I love the ice cream set. I saw the knitted version on ravelry this past weekend along with the donut pattern...cute. The apples would be fun to carve and make those dried apple faces. A witch face would be fun to carve and attach a simple body and dress her. Love your blog.

It was me! I am a member but wasn't logged in. Thanks for getting back to me. I can't wait for your next book. I go back to the Itty Bitty books all the time for baby gifts.

I am so sad that my kids are 10 and 13. They would have loved the ice cream set when they were younger. My family has a love for ice cream. It doesn't matter what time of the year. We always have ice cream. Thanks for the link to the pattern too. Those cones may just make up some fun knitted Christmas gifts.
