Episode 22 ~ Socks & Mittens

Hi, Knitters,
First, I was a guest on the Curious Handmade podcast this week.

The lovely Helen Stewart is so charming and I have loved her podcast since she started recording. I had a great time chatting with Helen. Hop on over and take a listen if you are interested.

For more news, I have recorded a new podcast. Episode 22 is now available on YouTube! Yay! What do you think about me only posting on YouTube and not on iTunes? It is so much faster and easier for me to post on YouTube and I think I would record more if I didn't have to jump through all of the hoops to get the video onto iTunes. I would really love to know what you think!

If you leave a comment to enter the giveaway announced on the podcast and here on the blog for the beautiful tray, please let me know how you feel about this.

Here are the links the podcast:

My Craftsy classes:  Wee Ones and The Not So Itty-Bitty Giraffe

My Ellison Bay socks in The Wool Barn Tweed Sock in the Soft Pink color.

My Lollipop Yarn socks for my son in 2 balls of self-striping combined.

I have the beautiful blue mug like the one in the photo above and I love it!

The blue tray in the photo is the giveaway item today. Click here to read more about it! It is priced at $34.00.

Please leave a comment on the blog post to enter to win the blue garter stitch tray by Creative with Clay's Charan Sachar. Thank you, Charan, for the beautifully crafted prize from your shop!

Your comment must include your Ravelry name or an email address so I can contact you if you win. Please leave only one comment. There is a delay before your comment will appear so please only click on Publish one time.

Have a great day and good luck if you enter to win!

I used to watch and listen to all my podcasts through iTunes, but a few updates ago it really bogged down. Now I listen to all my audio via iTunesand all my video casts via YouTube. It has been a good transition and arms well suited to how I watch and listen.

I love the texture of all the clay pieces, and can imagine using a tray while I knit or sew.

Hi Susan, I watch video podcasts on youtube and listen to audio on i-tunes. Great to see you on your podcast. I left you a note on Youtube about your mittens. p.s. I'm wearing my first socks (from your "How I Make my Socks") and made 3 pair of mittens for my grandsons from "Waiting for Winter" mittens pattern. I love it when things turn out so well. Thanks!

It was nice to spend a bit of time with you on You Tube this evening. The yarns were gorgeous, the socks so beautiful!! I now I have to check out a couple of shawls you mentioned! I want to do one for my daughter for her Wedding Chest gift. A bit of a legacy knit to place among all the bits and pieces of the chapters of her life I've kept along with the chest, I built when she was just 4 years old. She wanted something simple with a little beading - the minute you showed yours, I knew she'd love it. It just might be the thing to wrap up in brown paper wrapping, tied with some twine and a book of letters I've written over the course of her life. I'm a mama to 5, the youngest 22 and the last of my crew moved out on their own this past June. I miss a crazy house I must say! As to your question above about you tube vs iTunes. I sometimes really do forget to check iTunes whether audio or video. On YouTube my subscription feed, I can just work my way down the recent podcasts, a little company now the house is so quiet! *smiles* So I guess I'm partial to YouTube now....having a android note phone that I practically do everything on, means no iTunes on my phone. My ipad is now considered a dinasour!*lol* That being said, I think you should do what fits best for your life. Life is always changing, chapters end, new ones begin, and finding that balance to make it all work, is what is essential to you. If it's easier on YouTube I say stay with YouTube. Either way, those that love and enjoy your podcasts, sharing and info, events etc., will find you where you are. :)
The pottery is gorgeous! I've been looking for a while for a "knitted" kind of piece, now that I've got space and time to create my own creative space. I will be adding that to my list for mothers day as when the kids asked what I wanted, I told them something along these lines, especially in a mug *I'm a bit of a mug collector* I use most, some are art, and I treat them as such. :) I can't wait to hear what you've done with Craftsy!!! YAY! Oh, I am AlwaysKnitu1 on Ravelry.
Hope this finds you well and enjoying all the good things a Spring brings! *oh we jump forward an hour tonight! Got to remember that for the clocks not so digital!* :)

Those mugs are adorable... I must have one! I just clicked over to his Etsy shop and saw the yarn bowl, and darnit, I must have that too!

Hi Susan! Loved your podcast as always! The dish is adorable. I think YouTube is plenty for your podcasts. I always watch there or right here on your blog. If it makes it easier for you not to use iTunes, then that's what you should do!
Hope to see you again soon!
Hugs,
Carrie (cstein)

Oh! Those trays!! I just checked out his Etsy shop and just love his work. Thank you for sharing with us! So good to see you. I look forward to your podcasts.

I have been wanting to make lined mittens like you described. I made some socks out of wisdom yarns Angora Lace and couldn't help thinking what nice lining they would make for mittens. I am thinking of knitting the liner with slightly larger needles so as to keep the mittens somewhat flexible. Love all your sock ideas.

That tray is so pretty! Until last year I used itunes for all of my podcast listening/watching but started to switch over to youtube as it's so much easier to use.

HI Susan - another fan here ☺️
I watch you on YouTube & love when I see there's a new episode. I always wish I were a faster knitter after I see all your beautiful finished sweaters, socks mittens...!
I was thinking how fun it would be to have that awesome tray in front of me while I knit - with some fun treasures on it (like stitch markers). To some I sound boring but I know you understand!
Happy knitting from my ball of yarn to yours,
Sandra (haveyarnwillfly on Ravelry)

Hi. Thanks for doing your video podcast. I like it so much that it doesn't matter if it's YouTube exclusive or not. It's your convenience that matters, not mine. I have one of the little dishes that you spoke of and I would love the garter tray.

Cheers!

Enjoyed your podcast, especially where you spoke about adding a pattern into a vanilla sock, and how you used the two striping yarns to create a longer stripe repeat on your sons socks! I love learning little tips like that! The tray is cute as can be! Thank you for the opportunity to win it!
