Episode 12 ~ Socks, Sock Yarn & the Unfinished

Hi, Knitters,
I have a new podcast episode today! Click here for the direct link to YouTube to watch. You can subscribe to my YouTube Channel or you can watch or subscribe on iTunes, too. Click here for iTunes.

I have a bit of a hand issue that I discuss in the video so I am trying to rest it for a few days. Therefore, I am not going to type up all of the show notes today but everything mentioned in the video will be mentioned again on the blog later or has been mentioned before.

Thanks for watching and I'll be back soon with more.
xo ~ susan

p.s. I have the best blog readers! Willfulmina on Ravelry and Instagram wrote out and linked every single thing I mentioned on the podcast and sent it to me. Thank you Kate! So here are the shownotes from Willfulmina:

enjoyed this podcast loved all the scrumptious yarns! I am sorry about your hand though , it seems very unusual…perhaps you should have it seen by a doctor just to be on the safe side,,,
take care Susan

Loved seeing all of your sock yarn. Jaala's gradients are so pretty. I caved in and bought some of the sock in the Greatest of Ease base, Andromeda colorway. Can't wait to cast them on. I thought your colorwork hat class Sunday morning was excellent. Hope I can take another of your classes in the future.

I love YOWZA, working on shawl 2 in Biker Chick, (at age 68) I so love the humor of that. My concern for your hand is the sudden, very painful onset. Listen to this Grandma, you should have it looked at, maybe even X-Rayed? Thank you for sharing your favorites, your advice is appreciated.

I'm going to granny up on you, too! Go get your hand checked, lil missy! The sudden onset is probably a repetitive stress injury. Typing will wreak havoc on a hand. You've got too much knitting to do to leave it to chance! Plus too many people who love you and don't want you to suffer.

Hi Susan, I enjoyed this podcast so much! You inspire and encourage us! This Grandma is concerned about your hand problem, too. I won't go into my long story, but I'd advise two things. Keep taking the ibuprofen - even a double dose of what is recommended and to help with the swelling, wrap your hand with the stuff they use in the dr. office after you have blood drawn. You can buy it in any pharmacy. Also, make a note on your calendar when it started and the duration. It might be nothing or it might not. I hope you heal soon!

The highlight of my day is finding a podcast from you! I wrote down everything you showed and want to purchase it all. First, I have to tutor more to save up! You inspire me! As a grandma of 2 and another on the way, I am concerned about your hand also. It probably is repetitive usage, but I would encourage you to get it checked out also. You want to make sure you didn't cause damage - are your hands insured???
You are my mentor and I hope to see you in Pasadena in April! Love you!

I just discovered your blog a few months ago and you are now my 'go to' person for all things knitting related. Always happy to see a new one in the email. Love your video tutorials too. I finished my first knitted toy, your Opal Sock Yarn bunny last week and gave her away at a baby shower. It was a definite hit! Hope your hand is feeling better soon, I have a pretty sore elbow that I'm trying to convince myself is NOT knitting related lol.

Susan, I Love your knitting tales and your videos and actually everything about the sweet way you present yourself. I'm an R.N. and think that you need to have your doctor or P.A. take a look at that hand. The edema and bruising indication injury and you want to take good care of it now so that it does not become recurrent. What would we do without you??????? Xox

Another Gramma ... echoing all previous concern. We love your knitting hands! On another note I have the same yarn for the "pop" shawl. Are you at all concerned about the red tosh bleeding when blocking? Know you shouldn't be typing so maybe in your next podcast you could let us know if it blocked well! Hope to start it at some point! Please take care love your knitting podcasts!

I thinks those lumps are histamine , and madison must have millions of good physical therapists who can fix that, and I am not a PT and it is a long story why I think that good luck

Your podcast always brightens up my day and I am so glad I could help you heal a little faster. Thank you for sharing your knitting with us! It is always so inspiring.

So fun to have a day with you and your projects in it. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for sharing yourself, your ideas and just what you're working on and want to accomplish.
Best wishes for your stressed out little hand. Your great online "friends" suggest having it checked by a physician--even if you don't want to do treatment, at least it's on record if it happens again. Poor little hand--overworked and probably underpaid! : ) Anyway, warm up and come to So CA anytime. Best to you.

lindag1947,
Thank you and I haven't really thought about doing a sock book, sock patterns yes, but not an entire book. There are already so many wonderful sock books out there. I have been reading the Ann Budd's Master Sock book recently. It it sooo good.

I too love your podcasts. It's always great to see you! I love all of your new acquisitions and thank you for all of the links. Although that makes you quite the enabler : )
I hope your hand is better. It looks painful!

Thank you for a interesting podcast.
It is lovely to see what you have been making. While you have been freezing over there here in the Gold Coast,Queensland, Australia it has been very warm and humid and therefore I am crocheting at the moment as it is a bit cooler using the cotton yarns, but i am now planning my winter projects. I have some 4ply baby yarn that i might just have enough to make into a short sleeve winter cardigan or a shawl. i do love shawls but our winters here are very short season. Take care of your hand as i had this happen to me once and rest is the only cure.

Please let us know how your hand is doing! And thanks for sharing all of the colorful yarn. We need a reminder at this point that the gray of winter is nearly done :)
