Mornings with Jennie

Hi Knitters,
It is a dark and stormy Saturday morning. My house is full and everyone is asleep but me. It is my favorite time of day. It's so quiet. A little knitting with a little coffee in my favorite mug is the best start to any day. Our plans were to head down to the square for the farmers market this morning but unless the skies clear up that won't be the case. I wonder what you are doing on this long weekend?

This morning I randomly selected a winner for a copy of Knitting Everyday Finery by Mel Clark. The winner is..... IK2 (rav id) or Beth White from Collierville, TN. Congratulations! I have messaged Beth to get her mailing address. Thanks to everyone for entering. I'll have another giveaway very soon.

In case you are interested, the mug in the photo is one of the best things I have ever purchased. I have had this mug for awhile now. I make sure it is clean and good to go every morning so I can enjoy my coffee in this particular mug. It is made by the famous Jennie the Potter. She is located in Minneapolis and she attends a lot of the major knitting festivals and events. Jennie makes specialized mugs and things for these events and I've heard that they sell out immediately after the doors open.

I ordered my mug from Jennie on her etsy shop. It really is the best mug I have ever owned. I love the shape, the size, the handle, the heft, the glaze, the indentations, the sheep, the ball of yarn with the knitting needles on the other side. I also love her buttons and bowls. She is an amazing talent. Someday I will own more of her fantastic work.

Have a wonderful holiday weekend with your friends and family.
best, susie

I love my mug (sheepy under fall trees) and I have a yarn bowl that matches your mug.

I've got several mugs like yours. I buy one every time I get to go to Rhinebeck. I had no idea the potter was from Minneapolis. I thought she was a New Englander. I love my mugs so much, I'm almost afraid to use them (but I do!)

Have a great weekend with the family. Kind of a bummer about the weather today for sure (we're in Minneapolis and having the same gloomy day).

Thanks so much for the kind comments! I love that folks use the pieces I make. I try to incorporate handmade, every day in whatever way I can. Having my work involved in your daily ritual is all a potter could ever ask for.

I love the way you started your day. I yearn for that quiet time when the world is still sleeping and I am not. coffee and knitting make it all the better. hope you enjoy the long weekend.

Love your Jennie mug! I really want one of her yarn bowls, but I might wait until the wee girl is a bit older so I don't have to keep it on the highest shelf :)

I love Jennie's mugs...I have three of them, ala turquoise.

I have one of those mugs with a purple yarn skein. I drink my coffee out of it at work. It makes me happy just seeing it on my desk. I also have one of her lovely yarn bowls with pink yarn on it. It sits on my desk and is in constant use. They are lovely pieces!

I agree with you about early mornings. Both my husband and two year old love to sleep in but I get up at 6:30 whether the alarm goes off or not. I have three furry alarm clocks who don't understand or respect weekends. I usually brew up some coffee and get a nice quiet cup with some doggie snuggles and a few rows of knitting before the rest of the house begins to stir.

Ooh...Love that mug! I want one for my very own. Too bad Jennie's Etsy shop is on vacation. I'll have to watch for it to reopen.
