I am waiting to hear from Jen to gather her mailing address. My email is on the sidebar. Thank you to everyone who entered! I'll have another giveaway very soon.
Winter break is over as the kids are back in school. It was all fast and furious. I feel like we used every moment of the last couple of weeks to the fullest. Loads of family, friends, eating, laughing and giving was had by all. I wouldn't wish it any other way.

One afternoon we headed out to a local outdoor skating rink complete with a warming house and bridges to skate under. The maintained rink is sort of a bay area connected to a small lake. The setting is very storybook-like. I used to skate here as a child so it brings back lots of memories. We had so much fun that afternoon. I wish I could skate on this natural rink everyday!
My sister knit this Go Team! hat for her son. It matches his winter jacket perfectly. She lined the inside of the hat with fleece. It fits great and he absolutely loves it.Now we are just hoping he can hang onto it. This one tends to misplace or forget his things on occasion (all over the city:).
Have a good, good Monday, Knitters.
best, susie

Nothing like skating on a large spanse of ice!! We lived on a small inland lake in MI when our kids were growing up and that first solid freeze, before snow had pitted the ice, was unbelievable to skate on. Smooth and so clear you could see the fish in limbo below the ice and nearly see the bottom of the lake. A bit eery and unbalancing at times, but great fun! :-)

Hi Susan, love your new header! Your skating photos remind me of a new (to us) Christmas movie we watched the other day -- called "Blizzard". Have you ever seen it? One of the themes of the movie is ice skating, and there are the most wonderful vintage knits in it. And yes, I will watch a movie over and over to see the knitting -- is that sad ;)?
Blessings to you & yours in this new year,

GG

Reminds me of my teens in Des Moines, Iowa in the '70's...skating down the creek to McDonalds! You could get a hamburger, fries and a coke for $.95! Can you believe? One of my best memories! Thanks for reminding me! I look forward to your next book!

Wow! It hasn't been cold enough here for our lakes or open expanses of water to freeze that much yet. Were working on it though. I'm looking forward to taking the skates out now. :-)

I love the Go Team hat. I made one for my nephew for Christmas and he loved it..

Question though- when I added the yarn to make the strips the back doesn't line up and I see your sisters is like that too.

Why is this? What can I do to make them line up exactly to look like a continuous line even in the back of the hat?

Thanks.

Natalie

natalie,
you can use the jogless job (google it or look it up on youtube) to help even out your stripes.
