Oh my goodness! I am so excited about all of this. Alana Dakos, of the Never Not Knitting podcast and blog fame, interviewed me for her show last week and the show is now up. Click here for the show and show notes. This interview was a fun one to do, there is a lot of silliness.
She knitted up, in about a day or so, the Egg to Blue Bird reversible project from my new book, Itty-Bitty Toys, out of the spectacular organic cotton/wool blend, O-Wool. This is the yarn I used in the book as well. While you look at Alana's gorgeous photos of the reversible Egg to Blue Bird project in the book, you just have to listen to Alana's three-year-old daughter talking about her new toy. It is incredibly sweet and cute! Click to play this short audio of her daughter here:
Hatching....
into a tiny blue bird.
Alana has the most amazing photography on her blog. You have to see it to believe it.
That is one cute little girl. Her eyes twinkle. I can feel her zest for life just by looking.
You can see that there is a tiny nest for the egg or bird to sit in as well.
To see the first project knit up from the book and then displayed in such a phenomenal way has been great fun for me. Further more, to give me permission to share all of your talent with my readers is a great favor.
Thank you, Alana!
best, susie

Thanks for sharing the photos! What a special toy the little bluebird is. My daughter and I just love it.
Thankyou for your fantastic new book and for allowing me to interview you for my podcast!
Alana:)
Sooo sweet...I'm sitting here with a big smile, staring at my computer screen...could she BE any cuter?!...love it!...Thanks for the smile, ladies!
Gahhh we're dying of cute overload here. My little 2yo just asked me to play that clip over and over again!
Susie, I was so excited to see my yarn for the baby doll in the mailbox today! She'll be my first project from your new book, and I'm making myself finish my current project before I even open the package--that's serious incentive!! I see myself knitting well into the night, just so I can get started on the doll!
The bluebird is a big hit with my oldest, a bird lover--he's on my list, too. Actually, I am just so excited about all the projects in the book!!
Have a happy weekend!
Sarah
I LOVE this, Susan! Thanks for showing us this project. It makes me want your book even more!
So sweet!
What an enchanting project!
Now I know exactly what to make for a friend and her new baby! So so cute. Alana's photos are enchanting and inspiring. Wonderful link, thank you. I'm off to listen to your podcast, Susan. Just love receiving your blog posts in my e-box. You are an inspiration, too, in so many ways! Happy Saturday.
Hello! I am trying to decide which hat to make from your book, itty-bitty hats, and the one I decided on does not have the instructions for the larger sizes. I looked at some info on the web where you talked about making the corrections available but I cannot find the location of this info. Could you please let me know where I can find all of the corrections that were made to the book as published in 2006? Please respond to marti@granmo.com
Thank you -- I really want to get started on this project! And I love your book!!!
Aww! It's so adorable! I have an eye for photography. :)
I love this sweet little blue bird project - okay, it's decided, I must go directly to Amazon! :)
After seeing that sweet Egg/Bird toy I emailed the amazon link to my husband with a huge hint that it would make a great birthday gift. I also noticed a couple hours later on my electronic bank statement that a mysterious order to Amazon was made!!! Whoo Hoo!! (I'm nothing if not sneaky!) So on November 1 (my birthday) I will have pre-bought the yarn so I can get started on that project and I can't wait to see the rest of them!!
That recording was adorable! Thank you for sharing! I love the bird and egg too!
