I love this new hat I just took off my needles. It is wonderful to wear and warm and the yarn is beautiful. I tried the new Rowan Cocoon which is a wool/mohair blend. I will write up the pattern, hopefully tomorrow and make it available for purchase. This is a quick, quick knit on US size 10 needles.
The sweet treat is that I threw in some RYC Cashsoft to add a punch of color on top and extra warmth on the inside. I knitted a quick liner right onto the hat with this super soft luscious yarn. Rowan yarn rarely lets you down. I simply love this new hat. My girls are already fighting over it.
You know when you have a little lipstick on your teeth and you wish someone would have told you? Well, that's the case here (look close), too funny. You can't expect your 16-year-old son to help you out with something like that, right? I will have a better picture for the pattern I promise. That makes me laugh.
The hat also fits my daughters who are 8 and 11 years-old and I think it could be an attractive man hat as well minus the poms, versatile all the way.
Anyway, stay tuned if you are interested. I hope to get this up quickly. I have to come up with a name, too.
Take care, knitters.
best, susie

Oooh you look so warm and cosy in that hat, it's gorgeous. Just wanted to drop by to wish you a Happy New Year.
Big hugs
Denise
What a great hat - I like how versatile it is. I am all over hats the last week or so - such a nice quick knit! Happy New Year early!
p.s. I got a Lakeside gift certificate - we have to meet up:)
Great hat - love the color combinations. Very becoming.
Really nice! The yarn looks luscious and I like that there is a liner. You wouldn't think I'd need a double layer of warmth in our mild climate, but I wore a wool headband under a wool hat on our trip to the beach the other day to block out the cool wind.

Hi Wool Winder,
You know, my kids really got me onto the liner in hats. It makes a huge difference in keeping your head and ears warm. Now I can't do without it!

Hi Stacey,
You name the date and time and I'll be there.

Sweet! Great colors, they suit you.
cozy, cool colors and i (heart) the pattern. I think you should call it l.o.s.t. and fine (lipstick-on-susan's-teeth)
and it is SO fine.
Would be cool to have it named after your picture, which by the way is a great shot (didn't even notice the lipstick on teeth until you blogged it..now I won't ever forget the hat)
I have a 16 year old son and can really relate.
May your 2008
be great.
Too funny,coffeechris! Love the input!

Really cool hat and me and my 10 yr old are looking forward to the pattern.
As for my 8 yr old daughter, she absolutely loves your pom-pom tutorial! She's watched it over and over and probably wants to be your kid now thinking all you do is sit around making pom-poms all day!
could you please let me know about your socks - appletini? are they top down or toe up? what kind of heel do you do? i'm off to make them with mint chocolate from Lorna's Laces. Can't wait.
Thanks, and see you in MPLS in Feb!!
Can't wait.
Amy
Hi Amy! Be sure to say hi in Minneapolis.
The socks are the most generic sock pattern you can find. They are top down, k3, p1 rib, heel flap, etc. I cast on 64 sts on size 2 dpns.
Good luck.
Btw, I gave those appletini's to my sister and she has not taken them off since Christmas.

Hi Knitsterland,
Yup, that's all I do! I make pom-poms all day long! So cute.
When I was at Loop in Philadelphia the owner told me he had a class on making pom-poms. They had decorated the entire shop in garlands of pom-poms for the holidays last year. I thought, oh wow, an entire class on pom-poms! How fun. I still am trying to imagine how they filled an entire class with that concept. I would like to teach that class sometime and come up with crazy pom-pom crafts and stuff.
Thanks for writing. susan
