Vacation Knitting
Hi, Knitters,
I am off enjoying a lovely vacation with my family and my sister and her family this week so I am only briefly checking in today.
At the same time I am enjoying my family I am enjoying a bit of fun vacation knitting as well. I will fill you in on all of the details when I get back. In the meantime the sock yarn is Opal Vincent Van Gogh in Schlafzimmer in Arles and the shawl is called Pop Spots. The shawl is knit in Madeline Tosh Sock Yarn in Tart and Madeline Tosh Feather in Tidal Basin. The shawl is incredibly fun and the spots are super easy and addicting. I am making the large size which is huge! I'm so excited about that.
I have made a decision while on vacation this spring. It is quite serious. I am going to commit to always having a pair of plain stockinette socks (How I Make My Socks Pattern on rav) on the needles in Opal Sock Yarn at all times from now on. I adore Opal sock yarn to no end and the patterning and the finished socks are simply divine. So while I love the indie dyers and other companies and will continue to knit socks in these yarns, Opal is appealing to me on so many levels. It deserves constant attention and time on my needles. Maybe you'll join me.
That is my vacation update. I'll be back soon next week as I prepare to leave for Seattle.
I hope you are all well. Love and miss you knitters!
best, susie

My friends make fun of me because I always have an pair of Opal socks on my needles!
We are on spring break too. That is a great commitment!
Ooooooh! Love that Pop Spots shawl! See you in Seattle soon. ;)
P.S. Wonderful decision about the socks and Opal yarn - always love seeing the colorful socks in your blog posts.
I couldn't agree more! And I am in... love that commitment! Enjoy your vacation!
My stash of Opal sock yarn is alive and well :-) I get itchy fingers if I don't have several pairs of plain socks on the needles and when one batch is finished, I cast on a new one. I kept saving my Opal skeins for 'later' but have decided to let them see the light of day. I love the bright colours, the long repeats and the quirky patterns. Yay Opal!!!
Gee whiz, I'm thinking it's about time I learn to how to knit socks. All of your socks are soooo beautiful. I'm getting soooo envious!
Happy vacation to you and your family & happy Easter!
Enjoy your vacation!
I'm knitting with Opal for the first time. Basic top down heel flap socks in the Starry Night color way. Love them and totally agree wit your decision to have Opal socks on your needles
Just bought 2 skeins of Opal at the Windsor Button closing sale...I'll be casting on soon!
I have to admit that I hoard Opal. It's a little hard to get here in my little town in Iowa, so I order it on ebay from a vendor in Great Britain. Right now, I am waiting for the Sweet & Spicy colorways to get here---I like to knit my socks two at a time on two 24" circular needles. I don't really use a pattern, since I have made about a million pairs already. Love me some German sock yarn.
Мay I just say what a relief tο discover somebody that гeally knoωs
what they are discussіng on the web. You аctually understand hοw
to brіng a problem to light and maκe it impοrtant.
A lot more people hаve to check this оut and understand this side of your story.
It's surprising you are not more popular since you certainly have the gift.
