Elefante Giveaway!

Hi Knitters,
I have been wanting to knit an elefante in left over sock yarn for quite some time now. Yesterday I pulled out my remaining yarntini in the appletini color way and plunged right in. I used US size 3 dpns and it turned out as cute as a button. What a great way to use up the sock yarn remnants sitting in your stash. You should try this, it works like a charm.
This pattern has been such fun to watch. I wrote it up about one year ago and it has taken on a life of its own. As of today there are 231 finished elefantes posted on ravelry and 1185 in people's queues. Elefante is #14 in popular toy patterns on ravelry as well. I love that. Every day this pattern gets tons of hits on my blog and that makes me so happy.
In honor of this stripey friend and the joy this blog brings me, I am having my first giveaway!
Here's what you have to do to win my appletini elefante, knitted by me with love:
Leave a comment on this post, you don't have to say much, even a simple hello is fine. I will accept comments for this contest through Friday, April 11, 12:00pm central time.
On Saturday, April 12th, I will have one of my kids randomly draw (I will take pictures of the process and post them) the winner. I will post the winner by the name left on the comment that same day! The winner will then need to email me with a mailing address (kept private) so I can send elefante to its new home. I can't wait.
**I will include a couple more surprises (having to do with knitting, of course) in the package. They are good surprises having to do with some of my favorite things!**
From my hands and needles to your home this sweet elefante will fly!
I want to sincerely thank you, dear Knitters, for your knitterly support over this past year and a half. I love this blog. It has become a home to me and hopefully to you, too.
Cheers!
best, susie

Morning Susan, I simply can't express how much your blog and books have inspired me. At 23 it seems like all of my friends are getting married and having kids, with your patterns I've been able to make some adorable and priceless gifts. Thank you for this adorable pattern! Its next on my list to knit.(is it weird I check your blog from my phone, while I wait for my professor to start class?)- Lucia

I have been meaning to make elefante for my to-be-born-any-day-now little girl, but haven't gotten to it! I do have 2 super-cute itty bitty hats waiting for her, though! Thank you for the lovely patterns. -Lisa

Greetings Susan!! How exciting would it be to have a toy knit by the designer!! It would be an honored prize. I love your patterns and have knit many of them for friends and family.

Good Morning! Elephante is high on my summer knitting list - my daughter wants one and these colors are perfect for her room. I'm finishing grumpy old bear for my mother for Mother's Day (including the scarf and sweater so he can be an all seasons bear). I made about 12 of the baby Santa hats for Christmas gifts - they are so cute and everyone loved them. I've also made several sets of booties. Hope this is coming off as fan mail and not stalker mail!! Have a great day!

I have a four month old who, sometimes unwillingly, models all the Itty-Bitty hats I can't stop making since I received the book for Christmas. Her name is Susie too. :-)

Susan I am a brand new knitter. I have knitted a scarf and now I am knitting the patch baby blanket from itty bitty nursery. I have 3 more colors to go. I am so excited. Who heard of someone knitting only a scarf and then a baby blanket. I am looking forward to knitting some of the hats from itty bitty hats too.

Hi Susan,

I've made an elefante for my little one, who's also due any day now. It is his/her only homemade toy so far, and I love it (unfortunately, last time I checked on the pattern page, mine isn't listed yet). I'm hoping to make at least one more, when I know whether to knit in blue or pink - it would be wonderful to have a whole collection of them!

Thanks for all you do - you're a real inspiration :-)

Hi Susan,

I really enjoy reading your blog and seeing what you are knitting. You've inspired me to print your elephante and give it a try with some pretty sock yarn. I teach knitting 101 and recently lent a student my copy of your Itty Bitty Hats book to make her first hat. I was very impressed with how well written the pattern was. I didn't have to explain a thing. It was all there in the book.

Thanks,

Yet another lurker here ... love your books and your blog! I'm also working on a Grumpy Old Bear right now, except this one uses a bulky worsted weight wool that's been in the stash way too long, and was a perfect 'bear' color. He'll be a little larger than your model, but that's okay. I knit a lot of toys for a friend's center that provides therapy for abused kiddos - they try to give something 'huggable' to every child they counsel. Anyways, I think an elefante would be a great next project for them. Thanks for the great designs! (Now hurrying off to Ravelry to see what else they feature under toys - why have I not looked there before??)

Susan, Love your work - have sold tons of your first book when I worked in our LYS and I'm enjoying the second one now. I have a grumpy little bear named Harold that watches over my computer at work each day. He would love to have a new elefante friend! Thanks! Chanda in Mississippi

Oh my gosh....I feel like it is Oprah's big give away! 165 comments already! I can't imagine how many you will have by 4/11. Your book "Itty Bitty Hats" was my first inspriation. The hats in it were the very first things I could knit that I felt proud of when I was done! Your blog listed in your book was such a great thought. I never knew about blog world until I checked out yours. It is another of my favoite hobbies. I don't know what I like best knitting, reading knitting blogs or my collection...which is becoming a library....of knitting books! Thank you so much for bringing me into the knitting world!

Susan,

I love the colors of this little guy! When I get online to read your blog my 2 year old sees Elephante every time and throws a fit to have him.....maybe if we are lucky she might just get one of her own! I love your blog and your books are the best. You were right that I could learn to knit with your books! Thanks ever so much for everything that you do! Have a great week!

Hi. Love the pinks and greens. Huge fan of your books. I would be honored to be included in the drawing. I can see my one year old neice with it screaming "ooooohhhhh" every time she see it. Thanks

Hi Susan,

I love the Appletini Elefante. I appreciate the idea of using a thinner yarn for him. Since I spend my knitting time making things for the boys which they will quickly outgrow, I wanted to make something for myself with the yarns I used to make things for them - I am still toying (no pun intended) around with the idea of making a blanket for myself starting from the middle with all the leftover yarns. Thanks for your inspiration. I'm mnashawati on Ravelry. Have a wonderful day. Melissa

Hi Susan,
Your blog is something I check daily because I enjoy it so much! I have made nearly every Itty Bitty hat for the children in my life (a fair number going to my son) and I always receive tons of compliments. I have yet to knit a toy, but Elefante is definitely going to be my first attempt!
Thanks so much, Michael-Lyn

Susan...I just started knitting a few months ago for a Grand-niece who arrived on March 31, 2008! I've knitted some booties from Itty-Bitty Nursery but I'm not quite ready to tackle my own Elefante. However, I'm sure our baby girl would be " tickled pink" with YOURS! ( hint, hint)
