Hi Susan,
ReplyDeleteLong-time viewer (on YouTube), first-time commenter on your blog. I've recently taken up sock knitting and I think it's going really well -- all thanks to you! I've used your 'How I Make my Socks' pattern for men's socks, and while I'm in the middle of the second sock, I am 100% certain these won't be my last (http://ravel.me/knitsoutloud/himms). Now I want to make socks for everyone!
Thanks so much for being such a great teacher. I'm from Melbourne, Australia but I do hope that I get to meet you in person one day. My username on Ravelry is knitsoutloud, and I would love to enter the draw.
Best,
Wil

ReplyDeleteOooo... CUTE Packaging!
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, one can never have enough YARN - [you DON'T want to know how MUCH I spent on buying it in the last week!!] - so, "winning" some would be a treat! Especially since I'll likely have to be shovelling again, SOON!
;-D

ReplyDeleteWhat glorious gifts of heart you received! Just makes your heart smile doesnt it? :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing the bit about Craftsy, and your link! I'm signing up for your new class, hopefully by the weekend! YAY! I will be sure to sign up thru your link with gratitude and pleasure.
I was smiling as you spoke about your travelers notebook! If you haven't seen her on YouTube, may I suggest Amy Tangerine also on IG - she is a brilliant stationary, creative designer, who travels a great deal and shares many of her creative tricks, tools and layouts of her Travelers Notebooks, how she documents, saves memories, decorates, journals, sketches etc! She's really wonderful. You're right, there are loads of YouTubers for planners, midori, fauxdori, Travelers Notebooks and all the possibilities. I have several cloth, midori, foxy dori and the New Webster Pages TN. I have 1 for each of my now adult children. Becoming a emptynester about 9m ago, I write letters, thoughts, giggles, photos and things I find,or think I want to share etc. Like a long letter to each - a legacy book if you will. I also use one for my journaling, and another,my foxydori "Unicorn" for my Knitting/Crochet and makers journal. I also have several books filled with notes from podcasts, IG, Ravelry, magazines. I too have a thing for stationary, keepsakes, Washi tape,Midori accessories and fun things(progress keepers also adorn mine) It is such a compact and fantastic way to keep it all together! You just keep swapping out books! Love the blank covers on them as you can cover them with coloring pages -super handy when your stuck somewhere and its not the ideal place or time to knit on a sock - you can do a little coloring instead AND write in it when inspiration strikes! I also can print photos on my Canon Selphy and add my perfectly sized photos to fit my notebooks! Like a photo of start and end of my projects, or my IG photos. I need to check Amazon for the tape strips you shared! I use old gift cards with fun designs and wrap various washi tape to them, then I slip them into my zipper pocket. I have a "wishlist" of midori notebooks, inserts, extra ties, expansion bands (when you want a few more books in your Midori) and other fun things I use regularly, so all I have to do to reorder is add that list (or parts) to my cart :) EasyPeasy! Plus Etsy is a fabulous too! It is fun to find great items as well. A creative life comes in so many ways doesn't it? :)
With Mothers Day coming, my bday in July, I've added a many of your suggested yarns and shops to "Mom's wish list" thank you for the links! Makes it easy or easier for my son's especially, who feel a bit lost in the Yarny world. *I'm just building my "stash". While I was never a shoe and handbag kind of gal; beautifully made project bags, stitch markers and notions do make me smile.Love it all!! Yet it sends my son's (and sometimes my daughters (our tastes are, well, different!) into that deer before headlights look of fear!)
We don't have any LYS *unless you take a train into NYC*, and because I'm currently homebound; seeing examples of items others have experienced, touched, speak highly of, share and enjoy, makes shopping a bit easier for me and by extension my family on my behalf. Thank you so so much for sharing so many wonderful suggestions and some of your favorites!
Those kits look so sweet and so brilliantly put together - love the look and idea of them. The packaging is darling!! I've actually never made a animal before. My 5yo granddaughter has asked me to make her some. Think I need to get on that! How can any good Nana say no! ;)
Hope your week is kind and thank you again! "See" you in sock class soon, really excited for it. I can't make a in person or festival/retreat class - so this is the next best thing for so many of us! WOOOT!

Love reading about whatever you are doing. I wouldn't be able to finish my socks without you! Thanks so much. Now I plan to meet up with you some day.
ReplyDeleteThey are both so adorable, Ravelry id is rbebla
ReplyDeleteMy dad loves squirrels - I need to make him one of those :) Thanks for the giveaway (asimplehomestd on Ravelry)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love them both! I've made the reversible squirrel/hedgehog, and it is a huge hit with my granddaughter. With another little one due soon in the family, one of these would make a perfect gift. Thank you Susan and Alana! I am terriglo on Ravelry.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win that great prize! Thank you so much for the opportunity:)

Thank you for this contest! You and Alana are my favorite designers. My kids have a basket full of your cute toy designs that I've knit over the years. They (and I) would be thrilled if I won one of these kits! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Laura
