I mentioned before that I have been rummaging around in my stash lately. I found this gorgeous hank of Fleece Artist Nova Socks 100% merino wool I picked up somewhere or other. I really can't remember where I bought this one. I think it is incredibly pretty. Every time I hit that little stretch of pink I smile. The colorway is called Seashore which is a perfect name. It is so soft and squishy which is a change from the Kureyon Sock Yarn I made my previous shawl in. It's a nice contrast.

I am once again making the Demeter's Shawlette by the lovely LaLa. It is a free pattern and I recommend it highly. Laura (LaLa) is part of the fantastic video podcast along with Leslie I keep talking about, The Knit Girllls. Leslie has a shawl pattern called, Make it Work, which I am planning to knit up very soon as well. They are both talented and fun. Be sure to check it out as they are very inspiring.

Now to leave you with some bunny making while listening to Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson (my favorite of the moment). Even if you don't want to see me whipping up a bunny hat in two minutes you should listen to this awesome song. The pattern is called, Bunny Hat and Blankie.

In real-time the hat took me 45 minutes to crochet from start to finish including weaving in ends and tying the bows. I made it a little smaller and used only 1 hank of Spud & Chloƫ Outer.

The right side of the video is cut off slightly (I can't seem to get that figured out). If you'd like to see the entire screen click here to watch the video on youtube.
Enjoy!
best, susie

  1. Haha! Love it. I love Jack Johnson so much. Nothing better than cranking up the happy music and having a dance party with my munchkins.

  2. Looove it! Using the right yarn for crochet really makes it, doesn't it? That bulky is perfect for that awesome hat. Great song too.

  3. That was fun to watch! I liked seeing the yarn disappear and the ears form!

  6. Hi, Susan! Thought I'd mention to you how I get my YouTube videos to fit on my blog (similar size layout to yours for the blog posts). When I edit and upload my videos, I have the option of choosing wide screen or normal, because my blog posts are long and lean, I upload my videos normal sized. And, then when I'm grabbing the HTML off YouTube to pop the video into my post, I have the choice to pick a size as well. I use the smallest one (425 x 349). I see that they offer a custom size option now (that might be a solution for you). Hope that helps!! :) -Ve
