A New Decade

Hi Knitters,
My eldest son turned twenty. Twenty. It is difficult to describe the love, appreciation and admiration I feel for my kids as they grow into adulthood. Parenthood is beyond words, really, and it is by far the best and most challenging work I have ever done.
This one brings a peaceful, warm contentment to my life like I have never known.

Happy birthday, little one.
best, mom

  1. They do grow up fast! One good thing about being a mom is that you will always be his mom, no matter how big or how old he is. It looks like you've done a terrific job on your part because, even though he's gone off the college, he's still coming home for mom's birthday cupcakes!

  2. I suppose it doesn't matter how old your children are, they will always be your "little ones." My oldest just turned 8, and I could hardly believe it!

  3. Yup, it's crazy isn't it? You know you have a special relationship when he lets you take a picture of him with a plate of cupcakes! lol Parenting is tough work but it looks like you've done well...congrats!

I came to your website to show my daughter your darling elephant (there are other items I am not showing her just at the moment ;) and we BOTH said: "We know him from the pool!" So a big Happy Birthday!! to your son and a big Thank You to you for generously sharing your pattern. Much appreciated!

  6. I admire your little family. This son looks like he has lost weight since going to college. Usually they gain.

  7. And my baby boy just turned 20 too! Your boy sure looks like his mama.
